Dillard Maxwell passed away on Sunday, the 14th of May 2017, at Hospice of the Golden Isles at the age of 84.

Dillard was born on the 16th day of February 1933, in Dallas, Georgia, to Raymond and Emma Maxwell. He graduated from Dallas High School in 1950 and served the next 4 years in the United States Air Force where he received an Honorable Discharge. He attended Georgia Southern and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Science. He then taught science at Jane Macon Jr. High for several years. He then returned...

Dillard Maxwell passed away on Sunday, the 14th of May 2017, at Hospice of the Golden Isles at the age of 84.

Dillard was born on the 16th day of February 1933, in Dallas, Georgia, to Raymond and Emma Maxwell. He graduated from Dallas High School in 1950 and served the next 4 years in the United States Air Force where he received an Honorable Discharge. He attended Georgia Southern and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Science. He then taught science at Jane Macon Jr. High for several years. He then returned to Georgia Southern to earn his Masters Degree in biology and then transferred to Glynn Academy where he finished out his teaching career in the late 80's. When he was not teaching he loved to play tennis with friends as well as taking care of animals.

In addition to his parents Dillard is preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Maxwell Jr., Steve Maxwell and Hubert Maxwell; and a sister, Ann Maxwell.

He is survived by his two sisters, Mary (Shelby) Appleton of Acworth, Ga and Martha Jo (Bill) Autrey of Marietta, Ga, his four brothers, Ronald (Jean) Maxwell and C.W. (Peggy) Maxwell both of Dallas, Ga; Charlie Maxwell of Joplin, Mo, and John (Wendy) Maxwell of St. Simons Island, Ga; as well as many nieces and nephews.

At Dillard's request no memorial service will be planned. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorials may be made to the humane society or an animal shelter of choice.
