Frances Jo "JoJo" Nichols, 88, of Brunswick, Georgia entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Southeast Georgia Health System's Senior Care Center.
JoJo was born October 6, 1929 In Cedartown, Georgia the daughter of the late Ed McElwee and the late Fannie Naomi McElwee. She was a homemaker and the wife of the late Thomas Ralph Nichols Sr. She and Thomas moved to Brunswick, Georgia in 1963. JoJo was a member of the Brunswick Pilot Club. JoJo was born October 6, 1929 In Cedartown, Georgia the daughter of the late Ed McElwee and the late Fannie Naomi McElwee. She was a homemaker and the wife of the late Thomas Ralph Nichols Sr. She and Thomas moved to Brunswick, Georgia in 1963. JoJo was a member of the Brunswick Pilot Club. As a member of the Pilot Club, she and her late husband was instrumental in starting the Life Line program at Southeast Georgia Health Systems. JoJo also attended College Place United Methodist Church.
JoJo was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Fannie Naomi McElwee; her devoted husband, Thomas Ralph Nichols; a grandson, Billy Gibbs; four sisters, Mildred Lindsey, Carolyn Swafford, Linda Wills, and Glinda Steele; a brother, Larry McElwee. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Donna Gibbs of Kingsland, GA; her three sons, Ralph Nichols (Aundre) of Brunswick, GA, Michael Nichols (Rachel) of Port Lavaca, TX, and Terry Nichols (Nancy) of Brunswick, GA; her ten grandchildren, Dustin Nichols (Jennifer), Christopher Nichols (Shelly), Nick Nichols (Stacey), Stephen Nichols (Liz), Zachary Nichols (Brittany), Maxwell Nichols, Ginny Gibbs O'Quinn, Heather Nichols Jowers (Ramie), Jennifer Barrera (Cesar Osornia), and Carlos Barrera (Kristin Rendon); JoJo is also survived by seventeen wonderful great grandchildren and two precious great-great grandchildren.
JoJo loved to spend time with family and friends. She always treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was also known for her loving ways and was known as the entire community's grandmother. JoJo will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
The family will receive friends between 12:00 - 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The Funeral service to honor her life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Joiner officiating. Burial to follow the service in Palmetto Cemetery. Grandsons will be the pallbearers for the service. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the Senior Care Center and the Brunswick Fire Department.
