J.D. Waller, 79, of Darien, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Savannah. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday, March 28, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Darien with Rev. Jack Peeler officiating. Interment will follow in St. Andrews Cemetery with Patrick Webster, Jason Webster, Brandon Webster, Jimmy Waller, Jr., Bruce Deverger, and Josh Hewitt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Outlaw, Tommy Outlaw, Employees of Georgia Pacific Gypsum Division, Members of the Golden Isles Motorcycle Club, Lawton Woodcock, Dr. Mark Watkins, and Dr. Tanja Payne.

Born May 17, 1935 in Uvalda, Georgia to the late George D. and Clara M. Waller, he was a former member of The Georgia National Guard and was retired from GA Pacific as a millwright. Mr. Waller had been a resident of McIntosh County for over 44 years and was of the Baptist faith. He was a private pilot, enjoyed racing and riding motorcycles, working on cars and fabricating parts, and building pinewood derby cars with his grandsons who he supported avidly in their adventures as they became Eagle Scouts. He was also an Atlanta Braves fan who enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in all sports and events.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Patricia Y. Waller of Darien, two children, Jackie Webster (Harold), and Jimmy Waller, all of Meridian, six grandchildren, Patrick Webster(Autumn), Jason Webster, Brandon Webster, Jaclyn Webster, Kristie Hewitt (Josh), and Jimmy Waller, Jr., two great grandchildren, Hunter and David Hewitt, a sister, Clarice Hardage of Jacksonville, and many nieces and nephews.
